DRY OR CHAPPED LIPS? HERE ARE HANDY TIPS TO HELP KEEP YOUR LIPS SMOOTH AND MOIST

Dry lips

Dry and chapped lips are always a pain to deal with especially during the cold of winter when the air is dry and chilly. But, with the following simple tips, you can prevent your lips from drying and getting chapped, keeping them smooth and moist.

DEALING WITH CHAPPED LIPS

You can use the following tips to help you cure your chapped lips and prevent it from happening again.

TAKE WATER – Staying hydrated is the most efficient way to preventing your skin from dryness. Dry lips are often a tale-tell sign of dehydration, which can make your lips crack and making them sore. Taking the recommended eight glass of water daily to help keep your lips and skin hydrated.

AVOID LICKING YOUR LIPS – Licking your lips would seem the simplest way to moisten your lips when they are chapped, but it only worsens the problem. Picking and biting the lips is also a habit that will exasperate the problem. The best remedy is to apply a lip balm or a moisturizer as a protective coat to keep the lips moist and shield it from the effects of the cold, dry air. Apply any of the two 20 – 30 minutes before you step outside the house.

USE THE RIGHT LIP BALM – SPF is an important property in lip balms that helps protect your lips from UV rays. In as much as a balm with SPF is the best, additional ingredients to take note of include macadamia oil, shea butter, and almond oil as they aid with the moisturizing of the lips. A lip wax is ideal if you are going to spend several hours outside in the cold. If you have sensitive skin, then avoid lip balms that have fragrances.

PREVENTING DRYNESS

While it is important to use the right lip balm that works for you, you still need to play your part to help minimize the chances of dryness on your lip. Other than staying hydrated, here are a few other tips you can use.

EXFOLIATE YOUR LIPS – The lips are often put out of the equation when exfoliating the skin. It is important to remember the lips more so if you have flakey lips. You can use a simple exfoliation scrub for your lips using a mix of honey and brown sugar. Rub the mixture on your lips, let is sit for a minute, and then wipe it off with a damp cloth. After than apply some moisturizing lip balm.

USE A HUMIDIFIER – Running the AC to warm up the house during the cold season causes the air around to dry making it harder for your skin to stay moist. A humidifier is a great way to restore the moisture in the air. Strive to keep the humidity levels at around 30% – 50%.

AVOID CERTAIN FOODS – Avoid foods that tend to increase the rate of dryness. Avoid acidic foods such as citrus fruits, grapefruits, and oranges as well as spicy and salty food.

SOOTHING DRY, CHAPPED LIPS

If your chapped lips are cracked and sore, you can use some Aloe Vera gel to cure and soothe the lips. The gel has properties that help to repair the damage and rejuvenate the lips. Apply the gel for a few days. A cucumber slice on the lips can help to activate the hydration process. Just place the slice on your lips for around ten minutes.

5 TIPS TO HAVE A FABULOUS SKIN WHILE TRAVELING

Female traveler

Most women will agree that flying has a negative impact on their skin leading to various types of problems that are hard to get rid of. The re-circulated air inside the cabins has a detrimental effect on skin, making dry skin drier and oily skin oilier. This atmospheric change might even cause acne breakouts in some cases, leaving you with a dull, patchy and irritable skin when you finally arrive at your holiday destination.

Here are some tips to protect your skin from damage and ensure that it stays beautiful and gorgeous even while you are travelling:

KEEP MAKEUP TO MINIMUM

If you have ever spotted a celebrity in the airport then you must have seen that they wear large hats and sunglasses to cover their face. It’s not just the paparazzi that they want to avoid, but also because they do not want to be caught on camera without makeup.

Having your makeup on while flying can dehydrate your skin and make it age faster especially if your flight is too long. So, avoid makeup completely or keep it to a minimum – a tinted moisturizer will do. If you must apply makeup on your face because someone special will come to see you at the airport then make sure to remove makeup before the plane takes off.

KEEP YOUR TOILETRIES HANDY WHILE FLYING

You can’t forget your skin care routine while flying. No matter where you are headed to, do carry your regular cleanser, toner, serum, sunscreen and moisturizer. When you are travelling, make sure you have tiny bottles of your beauty products to carry them with ease. You can purchase a travel set that contains all you need to keep your skin fabulous.

MOISTURIZING YOUR SKIN WHILE ON A FLIGHT

You might suddenly feel that your skin feels too dry (if you have dry skin) or starts shining (if you have oily skin). For dry skin, you must apply moisturizer on your face generously and also apply a lip balm to protect your lips from drying. For oily skin, use a blotting paper to absorb the excess oil and then apply a moisturizer.

TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID INFECTIONS

Many people get sick during their trip and this means infection around you. To ensure that you do not catch cold or get sick on your holiday, make sure you always carry a hand sanitizer with you. This will ensure that your skin does not get any bacterial infection from the plane and you don’t end up spending a few days of your holiday trying to recover from illness.

DRINK ENOUGH WATER TO KEEP YOUR SKIN WELL HYDRATED

Whether you have dry or oily skin, remember that it needs to stay hydrated and thus you must drink at least eight to ten glasses of water every day. So, drink all water that you are offered in a flight even if that means making frequent visits to the toilet. Your skin is the last organ of the body to get hydrated so make sure you drink enough water or else you will start noticing skin aging and other problems.

Do you know who stole the show at the recent Screen Actors Guild Awards? No, it was not Nicole Kidman, Sofia Vergara, or Naomi Watts (they look awesome though!) It was the 16-year-old Mad Men star Kiernan Shipka. She stole our hearts with her sense of style at the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards, and this has made her our new beauty icon.

Shipka’s style was something that we all want on a regular basis.  It’s smart and stylish – a perfect blend of excellent taste, sophistication, and youthful vivacity. Now let’s take a closer look at her style:

Starting with her hair. The best part is that she kept it absolutely effortless yet stylish enough to turns heads at the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards night. The easy flowing waves and the middle part did the magic and add a lot of sophistication to her style.

Hair color next! If you are among those who wish to have that perfect blonde highlights that are simply blonde and not so on-your-eye type then Kiernan Shipka’s style is just what you may follow to get that perfect look.

When it comes to makeup, Shipka just bowled us over with her no-nonsense makeup look. It kept us guessing – is it there or is it not? To sum up, it was actually a glamorous version of the minimal makeup look. The bronze shadow and pink lipstick did just the trick to accentuate her looks. And, what gets the highest score – the thick and bushy eyebrows that just go to show how less can actually be outstanding!

FROM SALLY DRAPER TO A STYLISH ICON:

Mad Men fans have watch Kiernan Shipka grow and evolve from a little girl to a rebellious, precocious and stylish teen Sally Draper. Now that the series has come to an end, we now have Shipka as one of Hollywood’s young budding talents and beauty icons.

The young star put herself on the style map and caught attention of the style critics when she wore the Delpozo dress at the 2013 Emmy Awards. Last year, she stole our hearts and looked so cute at the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet in a beautifully embroidered Oscar de la Renta dress.

She did it again this year and this time she has really managed to break her little girl image and become our beauty icon with her great sense of style. And then there’s her ever glowing skin and thick brows that add definition to her looks.

The Mad Men series may have come to an end and it’s time to bid adieu to Sally Draper, but this American actress has a long way to go and we hope to see her shining as Hollywood’s next superstar.

We expect to see a lot from Kiernan Shipka both on red carpet and on screen, but for now let’s congratulate her on becoming our beauty icon, and wish her all the best for future.
